March 29, 2024 - PnP and drank over 4 hours. The nose became much more expressive but the flavor softened, maybe faded a bit.
Fantastic bottle. Clearly identifiable Neri, weighty but with much more elegance than their other offerings. Gorgeous darker color. Violets, spice, red/black fruit. Excellent length
Strikes me as ready enough to drink

August 16, 2023 - Wow! Super concentrated with huge nose of black fruits, char meat, oak, full bodied with fine tannins & layers of depth, perfect with the grilled lamb cutlets, young & years left to being ready

June 29, 2023 - Decanted for 2 hours. This is an exceptional Brunello and the most complex wine I've ever tasted. Upon opening, the aromas hit you in the face with black cherries, spices, dark shoe polish, and forest floor. This is a powerful and full-bodied wine on the palate with layers of ripe purple berries, cinnamon, wet stones, and pipe tobacco. The oak is finessed with hints of menthol and a nice balance of acidity to make this finish go on for days and days. I'm still thinking about it two weeks later. This is not a wine to take lightly and would be best paired with rich Duck or Lamb to tame full-bodied Brunello. This will age beautifully for decades. 97

September 18, 2022 - Tasted in a Casanova di Neri 2010 horizontal and followed over two days. A stupendous wine, with gorgeous aromatics from the initial pop.

This has certainly seen some oak, but it’s subtler than the Tenuta Nuova from the same vintage. This has rose petal, cinnamon, fine shoe polish, star anise. Tall and still well structured, with firm acidity, it has a long time to develop in bottle and will clearly outlive the white label. I think the TN will actually live a bit longer, but hit a lower peak.

July 9, 2022 - An incredible nose. Powerful, smooth, and elegant. Dark berries, plum, cedar, Italian spice, leather, violets, and Montalcino terroir. This wine is still 5-10 years from it's peak drinking window.

January 2, 2022 - At a private New Year's lunch. This Brunello remains young and in many senses primary with a dense deep cherry colour and a nose of dark cherries, blackberries, roses, lavender and autumn herbs. The palate is thick and textured with layers of complexity yet a sense of much that remains hidden by its delicious primary fruit. There is a a fine savoury finish and lovely fine persistent tannins. Delicious but something of an intriguing enigma !

October 22, 2020 - Beautiful dark ruby color. In the nose black cherries, tobacco and licorice. Very juicy palate with notes of blackberries, ripe cherries, blueberries and some graphite in the background. No real aging signs yet. Full bodied, powerful and a great complexity. Already very harmonious and round. Firm but nicely integrated tannins - these will soften out in the future and give it even more elegance. Super long and complex finish.
One of the best Brunellos I had so far and it even has the potential to get better. Absolutely astonishing wine. A must try if you have the chance to. Drink from 2023-2033.

October 23, 2018 - The 2010 'Cerretalto' is an extraordinary Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri, which comes from the estates finest selection of grapes, and only produced in ideal vintages. As the 2010 slowly opens, it begins to release aromas of ripe black cherries and blackberries, woven together with violets, graphite, spices, pencil shavings and crushed stones which all take shape in the glass. This is full-bodied, powerful, and complex with remarkable structure and outstanding overall depth and concentration. It possesses a beautiful polished texture that continues on into the ultra-long finish, which carries on and on with tremendous length, leaving behind flavors of ripe dark fruits and graphite. This epic Brunello has an extremely long future ahead, and it will be interesting to watch this evolve for decades to come. The 2010 'Cerretalto' is a truly majestic wine, which has reached the pinnacle of perfection in this great vintage. (Best 2019-2036)
