November 28, 2023 - By the glass at Birdie’s in Austin, TX. This is money. Bone dry. Warm and smooth. Walnuts, citrus peel, oaky caramel, mellow whisky notes like marshmallow and sunshine. Just getting started; this will be fantastic forever.

May 6, 2023 - Served blind at Saddle, Madrid.
We argued if this was a funky Sherry but then in the end we went with Malvasia Madeira of 20yrs plus as the wine was sharp and with sharp edges ( definitely not a Boal) . Nutty and oxidative, rich and full of energy. 92-93

October 15, 2021 - I tasted a bottle that was bottled in 2017. A really nice sercial! Observed a deeper, darker orange brown color and smokey on the nose. Very pleasant dry finish with a slightly salty aftertaste that could suggest a shoreline origin of the grapes.

September 23, 2016 - Nose of toffee pudding and brown sugar, but completely dry on the palate. Flavors of almonds and lemon oil and orange. Very complex. At first the intense acidity was off putting, but I kept coming back for more. An intellectually engaging wine.

From a bottle that had been Coravinned.

February 4, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Light brown color. Gorgeous aromas of sea spray, almond, bitter lemon, orange peel, slight cheese rind. So bright and ripping, the acidity goes to 11 on this one. Flavors of orange peel, preserved lemon, dried honey, salted nuts, honeyed and spiced tea. Wow, this is gorgeous in its complexity. Very tart but balanced a bit by the weight and richness of the wine. Classic stuff.
