September 16, 2016 - 66x Parker 100-Pointers from Bordeaux 1947-2010 tasted blind; 6/19/2016-6/20/2016 (Switzerland): Tasted blind. Medium purple. Nose of dark fruit, pine, forest, rich and ripe. Full bodied, rich and ripe but with excellent freshness. This is really a statement. Tannins could be silkier through on the finish (another 2005 with rougher than normal tannins). Wait till 2020, it may soften. Group score: 16.88, group rank: 45/64

July 12, 2016 - This is so young, it's best tasted in the name of science. But if science is your thing, the blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot is bottled decadence. Silky, lush, rich, fresh and showing no hard edges, the fruit is perfectly ripe, fresh, long and expansive on your palate. If you are lucky enough to own this stunner, I'd wait until at least 2020 to 2025 before starting to pop the cork.

October 29, 2015 - Annual Comparative Bordeaux Tasting (2000/2005) (Chicago, IL): The cabernet franc is much more prevalent here than in the 2000, but all-in-all, this is a sweeter, darker, and more tannic version of that wine. Darker fruit and showing much less at the moment, despite the larger-scaled structure. This also doesn't quite have the same freshness that the 2000 had, and needs lots of time for everything to emerge and integrate.

October 21, 2015 - Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys Auction (Four Seasons Restaurant - New York NY): Small taste, brief note. From magnum. Magnificently complex nose with ripe black fruit, spice throughout. Same ripe, black fruit on palate but far less forthcoming for now. 97 point nose, 90 point palate for pleasure today, but I'd expect 95-96 point potential here.

October 11, 2015 - (Roughly equal parts Cabernet franc and Merlot) Expressive nose of raspberry, liquorice, mocha, and truffle—the undercurrent of sous bois is particularly sexy. Dark fruits, mocha, and minerals in the mouth. This wine is at once both surprisingly accessible and capable of evolving for decades to come. A classy, giant offering. Drink now through 2040+.

(Chateau Cheval Blanc St Emilion) A fine nose here, quite vibrant and aromatic, a touch chalky, with pure red fruit character, elegant with cranberry and redcurrant characteristics. There is a gentle smokiness to it but it has a very restrained application of oak, and there are quiet nuances of liquorice and crunchy tar. Beautiful purity on the palate, very well defined and elegantly complete, balanced and light-footed, although with appropriate substance and a core of well judged tannins. Not a prodigious wine, but it has lift, vigour and definition on its side. It is very true to the Cheval Blanc style based on my tastings of older vintages, and this will be absolutely fine in 10-20 years time.
