April 29, 2023 - Weak nose. Blackberry, earth and cedar
Palate is simple - earth, blackberry and moderate tannins. Maybe a few spices as well.
Medium finish.
Not going to get better.
Not bad, aging well but not great.
November 20, 2020 - doing well for a 15 year old superieur, still strong tannins and dark brooding fruit/earth. agree with others the wine is straightforward, but still enjoyable in its simplicity. great for easy drinking to pair with food - i had it with beef stew and mushroom swiss burgers over two nights.
May 20, 2020 - Interesting, but not thrilling. At $17 on release, it's held up surprising well for 15 years but it didn't blossom into a high-end Bordeaux.
February 18, 2020 - Showed a bit better than the bottle from last month. Again, the large percentage of PV makes this an interesting, if not atypical, Bordeaux red. Enjoyable, but not nearly as good as a bottle of 2005 Chateau Chatelet that was consumed prior to this.
January 25, 2020 - Poured from magnum, auction bottle, nose of black berry, boysenberry, and allspice, on the palate, big body, tasty, mouth filling fruit, smart purchase from a great vintage for $63, enough fruit, complexity, and polish that easily rewards your cellar efforts, medium/long finish, good stuff in other vintages suggest you try it.
January 14, 2020 - Recent auction purchase.
Dark and opaque. Fairly weak and unremarkable aromatics. On the palate, round and easy drinking. Ripe but less dense than one might think considering the dark appearance. Not much tannin and could use a touch more acidity. Less structure than I would've thought for the 2005 vintage. Enjoyable but not very remarkable.
November 2, 2016 - Surprisingly, still going strong at close to 10 years of age. This is probably due to the blend, which includes almost 40% Petit Verdot! The wine is earthy, spicy, floral and shows a dark, blackberry fruit and olive note. Round and ready, if you have a bottle, do not hesitate to pop a cork.
April 19, 2016 - At its peak, excellent!
January 2, 2016 - Tannins subdued. Cherry. Decent
October 27, 2015 - My last bottle. Same as previous notes.
