January 10, 2024 - Double decanted 1-2 hrs prior to serving. Medium to deep ruby color. Cedar, blackberry, a little funk on the nose. Plushy blackberry, black cherry, a touch of dark chocolate on the palate with 30-35 sec finish. Nice relative QPR and great for food pairing although can stand well on its own.

November 13, 2023 - Another superb, and consistent showing of this beauty. The wine is packed with all the lusciously textured, sweet, ripe, opulent, black, and dark red berries with accents of smoke, espresso, licorice, and truffle you could want in a wine. Drink from 2023-2040.

November 8, 2023 - Rather feisty and mouth coating, this is serious wine for the money. Crisp, extremely balanced, showing more left bank like than right. Great depth and balance, lots to like about this wine today and lots more to be exited about in 7 to 10 years when this peaks. A good wine to put some cellar space to work. Drink or HOLD_

February 7, 2023 - This was brought to our monthly “Magnum Moron” wine tasting club meeting tonight by one of our members. I’ve actually never had this chateau and what a surprise this was. After approx 1.5hrs of slow ox, this was open for business. Great nose and 50 second finish, I’ll make sure to be on the loom out for more of this. What a nice surprise.

August 5, 2022 - Two glasses were drunk immediately, the rest of the bottle was decanted for 4 hours, then drunk over the next two days.

Nose is of sweet blueberries, blackberries, plums, black cherries, black pepper, Bordeaux funk, vanilla, whipped butter, toffee, trace of cloves. It’s bit more opulent and perfumed, and less subtle than the 2018 Clos St Martin. Nose reminds me of the 2018 Troplong Mondot. Smells quite Merlot-heavy, perfumed, powdery.

On day three, the nose is of red fruits, red cherries, raspberries, blueberries and even tropical fruit notes like pineapple, green papaya, orange peel, apricot. There is also bacon and New England clam chowder, white pepper, young leather and spice. This is one of the most fascinating and unique noses we have encountered; you can keep going finding more and more notes. The nose is the best part.

Palate is wonderfully refined and elegant and silly, velvety on the palate. High alcohol. Fantastic mouthfeel. The nose translates quite well with blueberries, prunes, black cherries, a bit of licorice, a bit of pepper, spices, rose petals. However, it’s closer to a Californian wine than the 2018 because it’s a bit more straightforward, linear, two dimensional on the palate (not on the nose!). Long nice finish. Despite the opulence and richness, it’s not port-like; it’s too well balanced for that. With 4 hours, the tannins mouthfeel becomes even more silky and velvety. The finish is medium length, very nice, of sweet plums.

This is a beautiful wine. Perhaps the slightest bit behind the 2018 but completely excellent. 94-95.

Bought from Ets. Martin in St Emilion.
