October 18, 2021 - Ripe red berry fruit. Over-ripe and on a steep decline from its optimal drnking window.

October 2, 2018 - This wasn't my cup of tea. Over-ripe, rich style of grenache hammered with far too much oak. Quite smooth in texture, with no overt alcohol notes, but this is a classic 'Parkerized' version of grenache that has little charm to me (B-).

January 27, 2018 - To the nose, black raspberry and black cherry with white pepper > black pepper. Slight leather, oak or smoke. On the palate, black cherries, black raspberry with slight cranberry, boysenberry, red cherry. Threads of tannins barely providing structure. Appropriate acidity. No tobacco or oak. Just a good QPR garnacha!

July 1, 2017 - Had with paella on the grill. Decanted.
To the nose, pepper (white) with black cherry > black raspberry, plum, red cherry. On the palate, same fruit (red fruit increases) while black pepper and slight cinnamon join the white pepper. Alcohol at 15%. Medium mouthfeel and length. Silky tannins provide minimal but adequate structure. Near end, very slight pulpy/syrupy sense then white pepper and spice reminds you it is a garnacha. Great QPR. 2013 was slightly better.

June 17, 2017 - Sat, 06/17/17, $2 Tasting + 2 Shared Bottles (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “The grapes come from dry farmed vyds of mainly decomposed slate & gravely clay soils with low yields located high on the hillsides, 700-1000m above sea level.” Typically, “The fermentation is carried out in s/s tanks, then matured 10 mos in FR oak barrels.”

N: Attractively smoky (ALMOST bacon fat?), ripe berries with earthy notes

P: Med body; ALMOST swtish frt (threshold R.S.?) & a TOUCH of heat (?) met by an astringent pucker which only somewhat mitigates by the LONG (albeit SOMEWHAT faint), VERY slightly tart finish with a discernible swtness to the dusty tannins. DESERVES/needs into '19, then drinking through '21, poss '22? LOTS here, but a like it or leave it style because of the oak/ripeness. (If interested, check the 4 scores on wine-searcher's Tasting Notes pg.) [As of late Mar '20, wine-searcher still shows 2 sources @ $14-$20].

April 11, 2017 - Dark fruits, a little acid on the nose. Medium tannins, medium acidity-- good balance. Strong mineral finish, almost metallic. Day2 fruits are richer, and nose includes leather and spice. Palate and finish also more savory and chewy, less metallic.
