January 1, 2016 - I love aging Syrah's and this proved my point. In a great spot right now. Gorgeous Syrah fruit.

July 30, 2014 - Tremendous classic petite syrah. It is our standard for the grape.

April 5, 2008 - Not decanted. Deep, virtually opaque purple red color to the rim. Intense aromas of clove, cinnamon, plums and berries on first whiff. Later this settled into why I consider classic SL PS - plums, some cassis, blueberries, mint and blood. Deep and fruit-filled on the palate with no tannins to speak of. Less oak than I recall from other vintages. Moderate finish. Nice wine.

August 30, 2007 - Even more disappointing than the last bottle, great color, but closed nose, hints of anise and lots of tar which blew off, touch of blueberries. Medium to light weight (and this is a petite syrah!), this had no finish. Pleasant as a quaffer but nothing else. Drink up.

April 26, 2007 - When I opened the bottle I was sure it was 5 years away from being drinkable. 20 minutes later I said, wow this is so different. When you open it give it time. Deep dark Bing cherry smell and earthy flavors, leather and earth are very present..

December 2, 2006 - Beautiful wine. Deep crimson to black core upon inspection with sweet fruit and rose elements on the nose. Still full flavored but with almost all of the oak and tannin integrated; no heat but big, suppley and sweet wild currant and brambly flavors. Nose and flavors grew over the hour in glass, with just a little oaf assserting itself in what was a pleasing and long aftertaste. Usually one of my favorites, this is strongly in the (above average) second tier of enjoyable PS from Stags. Wish I had bought a few more than the 4 upon release.

April 13, 2006 - A very disappointing wine. Tasted earthy, brawny, brambly, and heavy shoe leather with an ash tray mixed in. Where's the fruit? They got something really wrong on this vintage. It was awful and not worth the $28.00 Paid for it.

March 15, 2006 - No decanting. Atypical pet. Clean red fruit, tar, dusting of tannins and finishing with oak. Starting to open. Good BBQ wine... just need to learn how to BBQ.
