May 30, 2023 - fireworks on the nose: lemon and lime candies, herbs, flowers, light-roast coffee, dates...

supple and smooth, full and sweet but there's a gorgeous acid line to keep it long and balanced

always a privilege to drink old Terrantez!

January 8, 2023 - This was exceptional. Did not take detailed notes at the time, but wonderful complexity, subtlety, delicious flavor profile, well-integrated, perfect, light, smooth mouth feel. Perhaps the most impressive dessert wine I've tasted.

February 1, 2020 - I had a blast sharing this with my sister who had never had Madeira before. She loved it and was astounded by the acidity/sweetness dynamic.

October 16, 2019 - Dinner with Chris Blandy (Chicago, IL): I've had this wine before (from when Chris Blandy visited over five years ago), but I was a little shocked at how well this bottle showed. This is a slightly darker-complexioned madeira, showing a hint more brown sugar, but the exotic green herbs and lift is on full display. Exotic and wild in its flavour profile, but rounded in texture and acidity.

March 29, 2019 - I just love everything about this wine. Salt, bright, fruity, it tastes so youthful. Wonderful pairing with grilled oysters.

October 12, 2018 - So beautiful. Fresh and salty but loaded with complex fruit and nut notes. So clean and pristine, so much life ahead.

August 25, 2016 - Still humming. Carmel and vanilla on the nose. Rich, velvety palate.

June 17, 2016 - A private lunch (Restaurant Hertog Jan ***, Zedelgem, Belgium): Bottling date not indicated. Very brown colour, seems a bit tired almost; the nose shows some of the typical Terrantez austerity, but the palate is remarkably gentle and juicy, with a hint of caramel - the bitters and tangy acidity only kick in on the pretty hard finish. Impressive in its way, but it lacks some precision and complexity for my taste.
