Community Tasting Notes 7

August 4, 2023 - Chez Winefool Goodbye Dinner (Chicago, IL): A magical bottled that delivered on high/hopeful expectations. Upon pour this filled the air with gorgeous mature DRC notes of Vosne spice, stem spice, violets and mix of dried and fresh black cherry. Lithe and penetrating palate with a finish that goes on and on.

August 4, 2023 - The End of Winefoolishness in Chicago (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Combination of dried and fresh red and black cherry on both nose and palate, elegant with perfect balance. Charming combination of baking spice supplemented by further sweetness that comes with slight madeirization. This seemed to lengthen and expand with more time in glass. I had an underwhelming bottle 20 years ago, but not true tonight!

June 26, 2017 - Open and served without decanting. Madeira-like, very savory, nutty, with some desiccated coconut.

June 26, 2017 - Peter's MNSC (Petrus): not the best of bottles sadly. too much madeira and funk.

January 24, 2012 - A bit coarse but great depth and beauty, which fades sadly.
