November 26, 2016 - I don't know what everyone else is drinking, but wow, A+. This wine was probably in the top 3 or 4 wines I've ever had. It was tough to get into the glass though! Opened it, cork fell in. Poured through coffee filter, and I must say, it was still excellent. Dark garnet in the glass. Nose of earth, spice, and currant. Strong legs. Lots of structure in the body. The wine has a weight on the palate that is simply satisfying, and smooth. Flavors of currant, vanilla, and tobacco with emulsifying tannins that flow into a soft lingering medium-long smooth finish. This wine was spectacular. It might have a few years left in the cellar, but the corks might not. Drink this Christmas or with a roast with friends. Drink up!
    10/10 would drink again.

February 10, 2014 - Tasted blind: Nose of tar and currant. Everything is a bit one dimensional and short. Overall a good wine, nicely balanced and very enjoyable but just a bit on the light side. Drink now

August 23, 2009 - Nice as all the Nickel and Nickel Cabs are. Great Howell Mtn. fruit. Definitely peaking. Would not hold on to much longer than a year.

June 7, 2009 - Notes of black currant, black olive, cedar, and green bell pepper. Surprisingly lithe, not as dense and thick as other N+N wines of this vintage. This wine is showing well at this state in its evolution, but it still has a tannic backbone that I think will help it continue to improve for 3 or so more years.

December 31, 2006 - New Year's Eve at Seaside, OR; 12/29/2006-1/1/2007: Barnyard nose that turned to earth and something like cedar. Earthy flavors with dark fruits in there as well. One of the more enjoyable Howell Mountain wines that I have had - but that distinctive earth flavor was still present.
