July 8, 2022 - On the sweet side, very full and fresh with tropical flavours of pineapple and lychee. More reminiscent of a Barsac than i was expecting. We had it with a spicy soup but if i had another bottle and i'd serve it with a soft blue cheese, or pudding.

March 25, 2020 - As soon as you open the bottle you get a hit of lychees along with the floral aromas.
On the palate, hints of lychees, apple and flowers.
Not as sweet as expected, the lime and pear flavours get there in the end.
    Decent QPR.

December 10, 2017 - Typical Alsatian Gewürztraminer, big, bold, noticeable sweetness, but nicely balanced. All sorts of spices, lychee, honey. What a pleasure to have with a Foie Gras.

March 24, 2017 - Typical Gewürztraminer aromas, with roses, spices etc. Round, opulent and polished. Low in acidity. Well made, without edges.

    October 15, 2016 - From a half bottle.
    Pale straw colour.
Nicely aromatic nose - not overblown, and more lychee than rose. A much lighter press than I'd normally associate with Hugel.
A lovely wine, with good balance. It's clearly gewurz, but in a light, fresh, aromatic style.
Great with mackerel & devilled crab, and with a pork beignet served with foie gras.

July 9, 2016 - Wonderful clean, floral white -- great with higher-end Mexican (sauteed shrimp, chicken tinga etc)...

July 6, 2016 - A typical gewurz but mildly disappointing given the producer. All the elements are there: stone fruit, spice, floral notes. The wine also has a nice oily texture, and it went great with the Thai food I had it with. However, there was a lack of definition and acidity to the wine, perhaps due to the 14% alcohol I also suspect contributes to the wine's texture. The sweetness, which worked for me because of the food pairing, was not quite balanced, either. Enjoyable enough, but this strikes me as an off year.

October 22, 2015 - The 2013 vintage is much better than the 2012. the 2012 is kind of strange to me. Nothing fits together like it should be.

October 10, 2015 - Artificial taste, and otherwise entirely forgettable. FWIW, my wife liked it, and I do like other Hugel wines myself.
