August 22, 2019 - Tasted at Penfolds Magill Estate, Adelaide. 40 Vintages of Grange: Bin 95 made with 13% Cabernet. 'Like a bag of Licorice Allsorts', remarked one of my fellow tasters. Strong tannins as per all of these older Granges. The fruit is fading but still sweet. A touch maderised but somehow the tannins keep it together. There are better bottles apparently.

April 28, 2019 - Old Grange and some other goodies (Ristorante Morini): The takeaway for me with this wine is Grange is pretty happy around 55+ years old. This was probably the only wine we had this evening that was really in prime drinking window. It had been opened and decanted for a few hours before pouring. Almost a hint of fizz on first pour but that resolved quickly. One of the few wines where the pan drippings that Penfolds winemakers talk about are really there. With the fruit and the eucalyptus and the spices and the petals. It's just singing. A truly lovely wine and such a treat to get to try.

September 12, 2016 - There was just something a bit bothersome on the nose of the 1962 Penfolds Grange for mine. It smelt of geranium flowers. The palate was awesome. Silky, intense and loaded with sweet cassis. It was layered without a hair out of place and had phenomenal length.

April 6, 2016 - Amazing condition, lovely brick red colour, firm but crumbly cork had worked well (Penfolds clinic in 1994) and beautiful fragrant nose of leather, chocolate and rich undergrowth.

August 22, 2015 - For a bottle that had not been considered good enough to "pass" the Penfolds recorking clinic, this drank very well, and thrilled the '62 vintage guests and host.
