October 5, 2020 - I drank this is 2019 after overlooking the wine in my cellar. I was surprised at the wines lingering structure. My records indicate to drink by 2014 but would add if superb wines are well cellared they can still show well. Doug you and team did well.
April 17, 2019 - this baby came from an auction with excellent provenance and it didn't disappoint; it should be drunk in the next 10 years, plenty of life left... the cork though, very humid and bristle... it may lead to flaws in the near future so please keep these in best conditions possible... magnificent, strong and ominous; a great relentless
March 13, 2019 - Tasty!! Still some life, graham cracker, espresso, blackberry liqueur fruit is fading a touch but still enjoyable.
November 18, 2018 - A little too old. The nose was a little off, but the palate was still good.
October 21, 2018 - Plenty of life left. Not tired at all. Big dark fruit w smooth tannins and plush mouth feel. Drank next to some very big cabs of notable name and more recent vintages and stole the show.
February 14, 2018 - So disappointing..Opened the bottle and it had a deep musty smell. One of my friends called it a bad forest floor smell. Tasted "ok", and it should have had a few more years of life ahead of it, if it wasn't for the smell. Which never went away. It was still there the next morning, after sitting open all night.

October 23, 2016 - Pop and pour did not do this last btl any justice. Dark color, muted nose, good taste with tanin. Time in a decanter would have helped. This is to drink now.
October 22, 2016 - Possibly the best bottle yet. The first glass was excellent, and subsequent pours were even better!
September 20, 2016 - This bottle could go until 2025. Decanted for an hour and improved with time in the glass. Deep dark cherry and blackberry fruit, pepper, graphite, faint char and a little cedar that comes with age. Good balance and length. Softened enough to be versatile with food too. It's good to know these age so well. I recently had a 2000 (a notoriously poor vintage in Napa) and while far more mature than this 2001 it was holding up surprisingly well.
