May 18, 2024 - A Savage Weekend for Chica’s 45th; 5/16/2024-5/19/2024: Few celebrations can start better than with a magnum of Dom Pepe. And rightly so. Impressive as always, young but at a very good time in its drinking window, glossy, bright, laser focussed and now ( 5 years since we had this last , Papies 93) finally showing more and giving more. Loved how reductive this still is and with a lot more life ahead . Long live the magnums and pls proper white wine glasses for this, no flutes( they are for beer). 94 and full of life
March 10, 2024 - Drink now. Fading.
March 7, 2024 - Nose of celery, brioche, strawberry. Fat yet delineated, opulent Chardonnay fruit, fine mousse, hint of milk chocolate on the finish, with a mineral backbone.
February 26, 2024 - Stunning. A great bottle, best of the lot of six I purchased in 2018. Vivid flavors, cashmere textures, and a long, complex finish. This is why you age champagne.
February 10, 2024 - Very pale yellow colour. Incredibly precise and elegant with a lovely lemon oil note. Thrilling.
January 18, 2024 - Lighter and brighter than many vintages. A little less substantial to me. Maybe it will gain more substance with time. Let's see.
January 1, 2024 - Very nice bottle; complex and deep; the nose is almond croissant, lemon pastry, brioche, some mineral and soil tones; a very textural and rich palate with lots of depth. This has developed more from my prior bottles and its quite nice and still has plenty of life ahead.
January 1, 2024 - Happy new year
December 31, 2023 - Nutty, yeasty nose. Rich body. Slightly bitter on the finish.
December 24, 2023 - An opportunity today ;-)
Nose: Bisquit and brioche.
Palate: Very fine perlage, biscuit, so fine and perfectly balanced, beautiful spice aromas, delicate lemon, good length, depth and persistence, 94-95.
