May 23, 2021 - Last bottle of this and more akin to the first bottle (notes on 7/17/18) than the most recent second (notes on 2/8/20). Additive aromas of fresh flowers and perfume. Just an incredible bottle that reminds more of Burgundy than the New World. Kudos to Mary Selyem.

February 8, 2020 - Not nearly as complex as the first bottle about 1 1/2 years ago but still drinking well. Lots of plum qualities on both nose and palate with very soft tannins and acids.

December 17, 2018 - Decanted for 30 minutes. Cherry cola on nose with some dark fruit. A little thin bodied on the short finish.

August 17, 2018 - Another awesome showing of this wine. Pretty much same notes as on 428/18. A great wine just singing along with great fruit nice ruby color and smooth easy drinking and finish. Great way to start our anniversary weekend celebration of wines. Saving an 85' Lafite for our anniversary celebration on Tuesday.....will let you know how that turns out at our dinner at JJ's steakhouse on the Plaza in Kansas City.

July 17, 2018 - Nose: Very complex and stylish with aromas of cedar and sandlewood, moss and underbrush. Palate: A bit more modern than I expected but it is an RRV and so true to its form. Nicely red fruited with semi-ripe cherries, very bracing acidity and traces of the moss and an earthiness with minerality. Finish is medium long but very elegant. In some ways this is Burgundian and shows the Mary Selyem influence that brought her dad Ed so much fame in California's early Pinot days. The last WesMar pinot I had was the now defunct Olivet Lane. While this is quite stylistically different than that bottling it still has the finesse and acid driven focus that would seem to be their hallmark. Good stuff!

May 28, 2018 - Bottle two of two. Notes similar to 4/15/18, except that this was absolutely singing off the pop. Integrated, ready, delicious.

April 28, 2018 - First bottle of WesMar wine. Very impressed for the $29 QPR from WTSO. A lovely example of RRV Pinot with cherries, dark fruit and a hint of blackberry coming through on the finish. Smooth medium bodied and a deep garnet color showing very nice right now. Would for sure seek out again right up my alley for a nice Pinot to go with most any food pairing.
