Community Tasting Notes 4

April 22, 2021 - Incredibly ethereal, lifted and complex flora aromatics that are insanely vivid. Sweetness, acidity and touch of austerity on palate. (3093/5397)

February 23, 2011 - Charlie Trotter's with Friends (816 W Armitage, Chicago): Gorgeous nose - spicy, ethereal red fruit notes. Heady and refined - bright cherry and floral notes with lots of pitch. Much tighter on the palate, with firm, somewhat aggressive tannins that still need lots of time. Great elements, but not ready.

April 17, 2004 - Red. Cherries, brown sugar, and pine needles on the nose. A superb and complex nose with intensity that has to be experienced to be believed. Fat, flowy and oily in the mouth with delicious flavour components such as lead pencil, and pine wood, sweet cherry sauce, and jam. Precise, intellectually challenging with exquisite balance and elegance and subtlety. The aftertaste lasted more than a minute and kept revealing new layers, new dimensions, and new facets.

May 16, 1996 - Visit to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (Burgundy, France): Also from barrel. Bright ruby, with purple edges. Penetrating aromas - cherry, spices and oak. Crisp acidity - quite perky - with a lot of elegance in style. Much more fruit than La Tache, and less oak. Very long and clean in the finish - doesn't have the power of La Tache. Each aging cellar seems to make a difference, according to the winemaker. The above wines were held in the original 12th Century cellars of the monks of Saint Vivant.
