July 20, 2005 - The colour was almost totally washed out but the fragrance was just so beguiling. There was a hint of mushroom but it was the aromas of rose and white flowers that permeated the nostrils. On the palate it was sweet, vinous and ethereal and left the most wonderful mouth aroma when swallowed.

May 16, 1996 - Visit to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (Burgundy, France): Light amber colour. Powerful aromas - penetrating spices, no oak to speak of. Tannic structure - very full in the mouth - a spicey sweet finish. Lacks fruit, but has a lot of elegance and finesse. Dry, tannic finish, but it isn't harsh.
