July 25, 2015 - Started off softer/lighter than i expected but gained weight and body as it opened up. Ripe strawberry and red fruit on a long 45 second finish.

July 23, 2015 - This was quite a bit more restrained than what I expected. I was prepared for a deeper and slightly heavier CdP but what I got was a softer, more elegant wine. Fairly muted nose with some cherry and spice. On the palate there was cherry candy, strawberry, kirsch, minerals and garigue. The fruit was mellow but not muted as if it were past its prime, just not at the forefront. Tannins were very low-key. Very smooth drinker overall. Quite a bit of sediment even after a slow decant. Drink it now.

July 19, 2015 - Still, again fruit is fading, a bit better with spices, exotic wood notes and decent mouthfeel. At least, alcohol still under control. Not sure I'll still continue to buy, probably my taste evolved toward other kind of wine.

July 19, 2015 - First pretty reticent, opened up a little with some air. Very classic CdP notes of kirsch, raspberry, pepper, garrigue, but also some dark berries, iodine, minerality and some pepper. On the palate there are similar flavors but also pretty restrained. It's pretty full-bodied and dense, but very fresh with medium+ acidity and still medium-high tannin adding grip. Long finish. A very structured and classic Vieux Télégraphe, it doesn't provide the hedonistic drinking experience some of the "warmer" vintages do but it has a nice structure that goes really well with food (we had it with grilled aged Ribeye with different vegetables). If the fruit is holding up until the tannin softens some more this will deserve a higher rating... It reminds me a little of the 2010 but with less expressive fruit. (92+)

(Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf du Pape) A cherry pink-red hue in the glass. Often when tasted at this stage in its evolution I have found Vieux Télégraphe to be rather simple in its aromatics, but this wows me with wild notes of garrigue and aromatic herbs on top of the usual sweet fruit. It has a very soft entry onto the palate despite this, but then reveals a well composed supple melding of ripe tannins, well covered by fruit, with a good acid backbone as well. There is true character here too. Great potential, a fine vintage for the Bruniers I think.
