April 4, 2023 - A little thin and burned out. Usually these wines are very durable, but not this one. Perhaps flawed. Disappointing.

October 6, 2022 - Drinking beautifully. Significant step up from a bottle drunk in '19. elegant fruit and secondary flavors. Happy to have a few more. Drink or hold

August 19, 2022 - Double decanted four hours before dinner. Threw a ton of sediment. Opaque dark ruby, my little taste showed it to be very firm, nose reticent, just waking up after a 21-year sleep. Decanted at the restaurant, gave it another 30 minutes before first pour. Nose really opened, aromas of fresh muddled blackberry, pencil box, a touch of eucalyptus. Nice. Firm on the palate, black/blue fruit, tannins resolved but still quite present, balanced with the acid giving a mouthwatering zesty finish. Reminded me of a ‘96 Cos d’Estournel I had awhile ago. Excellent wine.

April 30, 2022 - Two hour decant. Seamless blend of violet, rose water, black cherry with sweet loam, cigar box and quartz at the end of a long taste profile . Last of my bottles . Wish I had another six pack. This wine is at its peak.

December 25, 2021 - Most certainly "Old Napa". Reserved and restrained, this bottle is more acid driven than anything produced for today's market. Light maroon in the glass with a nose of Cedar and vintage port. The palate was full of reduced tart cherry.

Tons of sediment. I will most certainly filter the next bottle.

September 20, 2021 - Last of these 2001 wines. Think it's past prime. Almost no flavor or fruit. But hard to tell, seems all alcohol and tannins, even this far along. Seems like fruit wants to come out, but maybe wishful thinking. Bricking and wine clear at rim. Legs run medium slow.
Now about one hour open, fruit and acidity beginning to show. Not intense but more than initial pour..
Next day, more fruit, and the best showing, but still not up to par as bottle consumed in 2019. Past prime, drink now.

August 20, 2021 - Two hour decant. Seavey cab's really need 20 years to in their prime. I love how the the fruit does not drown out the other tastes. So many cabs today are too fruit forward and extracted. These wines are for people who love Bordeaux style wines.

June 1, 2021 - Two hour decant and this wine was breathtaking! The depth and length of the flavors in that mature Cab remind me of how a great cali cab can age.
