April 2, 2024 - Badia a Passignano never falls short and is a benchmark in Chianti Riserva. This 2015 vintage confirms with its complexity and overall pleasantness, with some fruit left and tertiary scent ranging from underbrush to leather and pencil. with some elegant oak in the background A good companion also alone in your baloon for reasonings

December 24, 2023 - Healthy young colour. Surprising nose, doesn't rign a bell Chianti-wise for me. A bit medicinal, dark fruit, old wood, leather, a hint of alcohol. Slightly astringent taste, tannins not fully resolved, fairly high acidity. I'll let the 5 other bottles sit at least another year to mellow.

December 4, 2023 - Part of a Sangiovese and Barolo Pasta and Pizza night with my wine group. This is always an enjoyable wine. No formal notes.

November 5, 2023 - Plot-based, the aging of this 100% Sangiovese lasted 12 months and was done in Hungarian and French oak barrels. Then the different lots were assembled and bottled at the Badia a Passignano estate. The wine was decanted for an hour then it evolved very favorably throughout the dinner. It really reached its peak at noon the next day where it was simply delicious. The posh nose expresses perfumes of morello cherries, strawberries, leather, tobacco, a tiny licorice, a dash of vanilla, on an upper-class background of cedar wood. It feels like a gentlemen's english club. Medium+ bodied, the palate offers an interesting depth and a smooth, wonderfully velvety texture, with flavors of bright berry fruits, black tea, leather, balsamic (this is much more present than on the nose) and some nuances of oriental spices. It finishes quite long, juicy and energetic, revealing notes of licorice, espresso and a bit of wood. Very, very good! I bet that the oak will manage to blend in even more, so I'll revisit it in 2 or 3 years.

October 4, 2023 - Drank on the 4th day it was open, such a reliable great Gran Selezione: cherry, prune, plum, leather, tobacco, medium body, smooth long finish.

May 11, 2023 - Ruby morphing into garnet.
Dark fruits, not getting much oak although I see others are.
Some experts arguing drink by 2025 (JR) others 2030(RP)
I would probably split the difference and say 4/5 years!
    Still very enjoyable.

April 19, 2023 - Lovely Sangiovese and quite classic, still a fraction too much oak, but fortunately far less than with their Tignanello. This offers also much better QPR than their Tignanello.

August 11, 2022 - Young looking cork. Decanted. Deep black cherry colour right to the rim. Cedar wood and cherry nose, with some hot dusty laneway thrown in for good measure. Maybe a touch of tar and anise as well. Medium-full bodied, gobs of sweet fruit extract, high yet smooth tannins, high acidity, and quite dry. The flavours closely follow the nose with woody cherry and anise. Good with food. A bit too dry and woody right now to enjoy solo. Needs more time for the oak to be subsumed by the fruit. Certainly has the stuffing to last a long time. I just hope it doesn't dry out before it mellows out.

May 5, 2022 - Deep ruby with garnet hues. Low intensity of black fruits and spices on the nose. Medium plus body, high complexity, elegant with crisp acidity and smooth tannins. Long and pleasant finish. Potential for further improvement with the development of some tertiary notes after some years of ageing.

May 5, 2022 - Sangiovese 2022: Medium Ruby Red with deep garnet hues. Black cherries, red cherries and plum. Nose seemed a little bit closed, may be it needs 3-4 more years to open more and get more complex. Medium-dodied, elegant with crisp acidity and silky tannins. Vibrant, fresh, round with a very long finish.
