December 31, 2018 - cloudy with significant bricking. Nose earthy, a bit musty at first. Palate tart red berries, light earth, surprisingly and gratifyingly very vibrant still. A true treat to try. 93 pts

November 18, 2016 - High neck fill. 55 years old and looking quite mature in color with a bricked rim that reaches about 65% to the middle of the glass. On the nose and palate, an absolute spice bomb filled with spicy saigon cinnamon, cloves, allspice, lots of nutmeg, and vanilla followed by lush red fruits including raspberries, strawberries, white sweet cherries, and decaying roses and violets galore. Big but super-refined tannins and elegant acidity give this senior it's structure which is showing at the end of its peak but still with good life. Fleshy mid palate with good red fruits and floral notes lead to a massive finish which is completely dominated by the spices and lasts well over a minute. What a treat!

October 15, 2016 - An old burgundy nose that just kept on giving. A touch reserved on the finish, but a gem of a bottle that was lots of fun.

September 25, 2012 - Gone! Very light color. Just a shell of a wine at this time. We had a much better bottle recently….."no such things as great wines, just great bottles" holds true. NR

September 5, 2012 - A real treat with leafy tertiary notes. Medium weight and some red fruits still present. Probably on the downward curve but lovely.
