December 1, 2023 - Still holding its own and accessible for only needing a modest decant. It didn't develop much in the decanter. That said, drink up as this doesn't feel like it has the legs to run long.
May 27, 2023 - Decanted half the bottle the first night and was perfectly pleasant but a bit one-dimensional. The second half (undecanted, left in bottle with cork) did seem to have opened up a bit the next night. Give this a long decant or a bit more time. 87-90 points seems right, i.e. a tiny bit disappointing.
February 25, 2023 - Floral nose. Tea-leaves, moist tobacco, and dark red fruit. Palate has tobacco, cherry, leather and hints of tar. Dry.
January 13, 2022 - Nice colour. Cherry nose, slight spice- Clive, cinnamon.some earthiness and mint, rose petal. Silky mouthfeel, some lean tannin and a bit of powder. Red fruit palate, gamey, cherry and strawberry. Very dry. Great.
October 19, 2021 - bad bottle, starting to turn to vinegar.
October 8, 2021 - The light style of Ratti in a relatively light vintage. Lovely. Perhaps not the longevity of 2013 or 2016, but now open and very enjoyable. Decanted it opened up even more, so no hurry to drink up.
July 9, 2020 - Still needs to mature
April 30, 2020 - 2014 is really good now, as usual, Marcenasco is an easy to drink Barolo. Darker color than typical Barolo, fantastic fine acid in good harmony with cherries, red currants. This is a good simple Barolo, does not need much carafe time. Drink or hold
February 7, 2020 - More warmth than flavor.
November 24, 2019 - Needs to mature for a few more years
