April 14, 2024 - Absolutely delicious bottle of Burgundy punching way above its weight. Lush, red-fruited with a bit of tannic bite in the finish, it’s a great foil for food.

January 28, 2022 - Pure cherry fruit, smooth and silken. Joy in a bottle. Sure, not the most complex wine on the planet but plenty to love here.

November 15, 2019 - Fantastic value and I have no idea why I don't buy more of this. Exuberant, bright fruit with such a sense of refreshment and energy, and I wish I had more.

October 9, 2019 - Fantastic QPR on this one. Fresh but also fantastic depth and length. Fully agree that it has 2-3 years of improvement but unlikely they last that long for me!

September 28, 2019 - Compelling. Clear Blue-ruby. Quiet nose- sweet red cherries and strawberries, neutral on florality and herbs. Clean. Medium bodied. Tart and pure red fruit including red raspberry balsamic vinegar on palate with a healthy undercurrent fine grit tannins and earth. Great interplay between tart and mineral that resolves silky and balanced.

    April 23, 2019 - PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
    -pretty shimmering dark red
-expressive high-toned stony juicy black cherry
-med+ acidity gives a not-unpleasant sour kick on the finish, med- weight tangy red apple peel vibrant black cherry with stony saline minerality, med tannins are fine in texture but slightly dried out
-very nice for the level with a typical "bright-dark" dichotomy I often sense in Jouan's wines depending on the vintage - fruit on the darker end of the red spectrum that is bright and lively, this has another year or two of improvement in it but is very pleasant now as well

April 6, 2019 - Super juicy and red fruited. Good earth mid-palate and serious structure with minerals and tannins. Sure it can age but it is joyously gulpable now.

March 11, 2019 - Deep cherry colored. Nose shows impressive depth of fruit (lots of red and black cherries, raspberries) along with red licorice, rose petals and earth. Dusty/light tannins with zippy acidity. Crunchy, tart cherries, raspberries, pomegranate, red apple peel - there is a ton of fruit in here, but also some spicy tobacco and rhubarb notes underneath. Light and accessible but not simple, I'll hold off on opening another for a few years if I can, though, as even this level of wine from Jouan deserves some time to evolve.
