March 18, 2022 - Medium ruby garnet. Bright aromas of red berries, flowers, red desert soil, tangy manure. Warm acids on the palate, medium body with an undertow of dark fruit and firm tannins, long clarifying finish. 11.5% alcohol.
August 14, 2021 - This was phenomenal, wish I had a bunch more. Lighter weight but still packs a lot of great red and blue fruits, a touch of earth, a hint of something floral. Delicious.
February 12, 2021 - Aromas of blueberry, mango skin, violets, grassy fields. Balance of concentrated fruit and a nice hit of tannic acid on the palate. Delicious.
June 18, 2020 - Hibiscus, salted plums, rusty nails on the nose. Dry salty fruit on the palate, underlying sweetness with a twist of preserved lemon, balanced evolution into the warm aromatic acid finish. Lovely with rosemary chicken.
August 31, 2019 - Light, yet distinctly CF awesomeness. Graphite but not vegetal. Designed for early drinking and really lovely.
April 3, 2019 - Ruby color. Nose green pepper and tobacco, red fruited. Palate well balanced, red cherries with a pronounced herbal/green bell pepper note but in a balanced fashion. Lightly chalky tannins on finish. A bit light and perhaps somewhat simple, but has balance and could likely age into something more interesting with time. 90 pts with upside
March 31, 2019 - Popped and poured. Pale ruby color. Definite green pepper and herbs coming through on the nose along with some crunchy tart red fruits. Similar flavors on the palate with a mix of new world fruit and old world earthy flavors. Crunchy with good acidity on the palate, not much tannin and light bodied at 11.5% but is balanced and has good concentration and flavor. Impressive winemaking on display here.
February 19, 2019 - Nose of sweet spice, dusty raspberries, and hot dry heath. Clear fruit on the front of the palate with prominent acids moving into a rich chewy fruit presence at the back with smooth tannins and a reviving acid finish. Lovely balance, cut, and drive. 50 + 17 + 17 + 9 = 93.
February 11, 2019 - fabulous. light, acidic, tannin structure apparent though in balance - probably rather light, but so was every other component as it's an exceptionally balanced wine. 11.5% alcohol but doesn't read as unreasonably lean. think body weight of a light/medium pinot noir.
I get the red pepper note I expect, some slight herbs and peppercorn... it's definitely cab franc (and I say that lovingly)
July 13, 2018 - Pungent floral nose of fragrant plums and dusty trails. Bright fruit on the palate with a lovely dry acid finish. A wine in perfect balance. 50 + 17 + 17 + 9 = 93.
