March 1, 2024 - Have some patience with this wine. It may be somewhat past its prime, but it is still very enjoyable. Very funky nose at first - I almost gave up on it during the first 15 mins to an hour. There was an earthy note on the nose that I couldn’t quite place. Not too unpleasant, just very different. 1 1/2 - 3 hour decant revealed a smooth, Rutherford cab. Fruit is fading, but overall tannic structure is still intact. More red fruit than black fruit. Integration was the only knock on this one. You can tell it was there in the recent past, but this baby needs to be consumed now or very soon.
June 11, 2022 - Delectable!!
February 14, 2021 - a little over the hill
October 17, 2020 - Lovely wine. Lightly decanted - 20 minutes - and opened to some still ripe black fruit. Smooth tannin structure and decent finish. May be a couple of years past prime, but still drank wonderfully.
July 5, 2020 - From Magnum. In my cellar for years, but maybe cooked somewhere along the line before I acquired it. Viscous texture, overwhelming stewed prunes on nose. Not drinkable.
February 12, 2020 - Lovely, classic Napa Cab at full maturity. Always enjoyable, great bang/buck in terms of value/price. And a fabulous vineyard to visit. Nose of plums, wood and forest floor, some spice/pepper; sweet tannins and a decent finish. Cheers!!
November 11, 2019 - Fruit almost totally gone. Originally thought it was corked but it opened up a bit. Very much at the end of its life.
August 15, 2019 - Napa with friends; 8/15/2019-8/18/2019 (Napa, CA): Very corked!
January 10, 2019 - Crunchy plum, truffle and cedar notes, fresh and energetic, not coming off as having 18 years of age. More savory than sweet. Well done.
May 29, 2018 - Spectacular!!!
