May 16, 2024 - Perhaps due to the vintage, this was ready to go after a 2 hour decant. Ripe blue/blackberries with a sturdy tannic structure that softened with the decant. Long, spiced cedar finish.

Positively surprised how drinkable this was.

November 12, 2023 - Still trying to have a value for money feeling about this wine. Decanted for a full day. The wine shows well but fails to impress. Like a decent Cru bourgeois or a powerfull haut medoc from a great vintage, this 5th cru Classé from Pauillac in an average millésime is far from its 100€ purchase Price. I undetstand.great.vintage have high price but average vintage should be at a reasonable price! The cru owners should market their wines differently if they want to survive in this challenging environment

June 21, 2023 - Drank at Mercato alongside a 2017 Pontet-Canet. Closed upon opening and very tannic. After about an hour, it started to open up and was very nice.

June 16, 2023 - Opened and decanted, then served 30 minutes later. Black fruit with roasted beef showing very good depth. Certainly still backward but nearly balanced and surprisingly approachable for a young Lynch-Bages. Better from 2027 or later, and I'd imagine even better from 2037.

April 30, 2023 - This wine is young, very young, tight, closed even. Decanted for five hours, not nearly enough. Cheeries on the nose. Black fruit that is closed mid pallet. Gone is the graphite minerality I associate with Lynch. Short finish. This puppy needs five to ten more years. I don’t like my chances but I love this wine.

    Nose: Smoke, blackberry, wood spice
    Body: Dense, polished and sleek
Palate: Dark purple currants, tart currants, subtle earthy spice, cassis. With air, some red raspberry. With even more air, a slight browned balsamic note.
Finish: Dusty tannin, slight bitter, med+ length. Picked up austerity after being open for a couple hours in decanter and tannins felt more coarse. Was best after an hour of air. Am not saying any to try tomorrow etc.
