July 1, 2016 - Grapemates with Jon Mk.2: Ash, vanilla, charcoal and coconut. Tannins are still bold, there is a wealth of structure that makes me think this should live a long long time. No hurry to open these as time can only benefit these.

March 21, 2016 - Quite evolved in colour and on the nose. Earthy, dusty with notes of eucalyptus, forest floor, tobacco, spices. On the palate open and balanced. Good acidity, sweet fruit, slightly spicy with soft tannins. Very good length. Elegant and ready to drink. 92-94

March 21, 2016 - Smell the age and dusty old stored barrels. Chewy tannin and earthy notes with limited pleasure.

Somehow this Penfolds Bin 707 doesn't feel magical, perhaps has gone through a lot of heat stress.

    Clean, medium garnet/tawny with legs.

Nose: Clear, Medium Intensity of Kirsh, oak, cocoa, raisiny and cooked fruits

Palate: Dry, Low Acid, and Tannin, No fruit structure, hollow, Medium intensity of cooked plum, raisiny, and sultana. Medium body and finish

January 14, 2016 - First bottle of the case. Sweet black fruit and cassis, quite strong tannin and acidity. This is drinking now because of the concentrated fruit, but I won't be in a hurry to open the next bottle.

(Penfolds Bin 707 ) The latest vintage of this flagship wine has an intense nose of sweet, chewy, tarry bramble and blackcurrant fruit. It is sweet, rounded and smooth on the palate, with cigarbox notes and blackcurrant fruit. This wine is in a very simple, primary stage of its evolution. Tannins are prominent, yet very supple and there is balanced acidity. This wine needs a lot more time yet.
