April 6, 2024 - Tasted triple blind. Immediately charming, violet top aromas with suggestions of tea tree and molasses. As it opens, it expresses a lovely coffee shop nose that establishes impressive oak integration. Dynamic mocha latte coziness on the palate, sleek and sexy. Recollective maturity that demands respect even amongst younger, more brawny wines. My WOTN.

December 9, 2023 - Deep black cherries, anise, baking spice, tobacco and cedar. Outstanding acidity; it really balances the big fruit and aged wood perfectly while maintaining its medium-bodied profile from start to finish. Excellent on day-1 but even better on day-2.

May 26, 2023 - Definitely in drinking window now. Sweet brown anise. Absolutely delicious even without food. Good stuff

September 23, 2022 - It’s been a long time since I’ve opened a bottle of Quintarelli red, but the opportunity to do so on a New York restaurant list for $145 was too good to pass up. It may be 12 years old, but it drinks like it went in the bottle yesterday, even after an hour-long decant. Purple and black fruits, a heavy dose of graphite, and vanilla extract all are prominent. The ripeness is clear, but at the same time, a strong vein of acidity keeps the wine feeling far lighter than it otherwise would. Recommended, but give it more air than I did.

    November 21, 2021 - lightly browned burgundy.
    Nose nice, open, some pine.
Palate nice open fruit, silky red fruits. Easier to drink now after a few more years

October 28, 2020 - Earthy, spice, some sweet raisin. Mouth filling, but uniquely elegant too. Drank well over a couple of days, and gave plenty of flavours: herbal, floral, olives, currants.

May 6, 2020 - 1.5 hr decant. Out of this world initial scent of very ripe strawberry is overwhelming at first, then balanced with delightful milk chocolate. Plum, espresso and a little tar on the palate. Very strong tannins and graphite minerality at the back. Slightly coarse tannins are still strong but this is not a defect. Would be perfectly matched for a debauched country lunch with Uncle Monty from Withnail and I
Score: 93. Relative to expectations: ++

July 20, 2019 - A ripe nose of dried fruits, chocolate, sweet tobacco and earth. It is rich and heady in the mouth, tasting of macerated cherries and possessing a high glycerol feel. The finish is long with interesting savoury nuance.
