April 28, 2016 - The color of rose hip tea, the wine is sublime for 82 years of age. Elegant, soft and fragrant, the red berry fruits alternate from sweet to tart, while the silky, soft textures really grab your focus.

December 20, 2015 - Cheval Blanc Vertical Tasting (Old Swiss House, Lucerne, Switzerland): Mature brick color. Nose showed ripe berries with hints of vegetable notes. Nice depth, powerful and long. Very balanced and good sweetness. The only negative were the somewhat dry tannins. Overall still a great wine for its age. Now fully mature

October 27, 2015 - One of the most spectacular bottles of Cheval Blanc - fresh and intense aromas. Mushrooms, truffle, bit of coffee, cigar box, graphite - everything in good measure but with incredible elegance and intensity.

October 16, 2015 - Drunk at Amuse Bouche Hong Kong alongside a Magnum of 1934 Lafite (it's a hard life I lead!). There is always some trepidation when opening such old wines from great years like this but there was certainly no need in this case. The first thing of note was the wonderful clarity this bottle possessed, always a good sign in my experience. As you would expect the wine had some brown tinges on the rim but it was by no means past its prime. I venture to say this wine will continue to perform for some years to come. It was beautifully smooth on the palate with a delicacy that great mature Chevals exhibit. Definitely right up there with '47 for me.

October 28, 2005 - Right Bank Bdx Offline (The Square, London): INCREDIBLE aged wine nose, simply superb. Dried fruit, barnyard, toast. Nice acidity in the mouth, good attack, finish ok. My kind of wine.
