September 20, 2014 - Hairy Crab Night 2014 (Capital Restaurant, New Bridge Road, Singapore): Decently good, if not quite the style of white Burg that I like. This was rich and oakey on the nose, with lots of buttery accents and honeyed aromas wafting about dried earth notes and slightly oxidative scents of kumquat skins and Salak (aka snake-skin) fruit. With time, some floral notes started coming out as well. The palate was creamy and toasty, with sweet white fruit and nutty flavours at the fore, along with a lick of smoky, toasty mineral at the finish. Like the nose, some time and air allowed more floral components to show after awhile. It was all just a bit too toasty and in-your-face for my tastes, although some others may like this particular expression of Chardonnay. Good thing that the wine showed some quality in the way it came together, with a good bit of bright, lemony acidity cutting through all its flavours and giving it a sense of clean balance throughout. In spite of not rocking my world, this was actually a pretty decent wine that was drinking quite readily on the night. Not sure it will improve much, so drink up.

3/1/2006 (link)(Potel Nicolas Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gains) A wide and deep nose, lots going on here, tons of interest. A wine that grows in your mouth, full concentration, nice acidity and penetrating length. This is a lovely wine.
