July 11, 2014 - For a wine with this age and this pedigree, there are lots of expectation, albeit tempered by risks, especially the price of admission was not cheap. This bottle did not just meet that high expectation, it blew through and exceed it.

With a dark core color and maroon rim, the wine displayed classic aged aroma of a mixture of tea, soy, dirt, mocha, spices. The initial signs indicating that the wine was sound and ready to be enjoyed. On the palate, soft, smooth stream of creamy tea balanced with just the right amount of dark fruit and earth. Obviously past its glorious days, but still a lovely aged gem. popped, poured, and enjoyed. removed the sediment with coffee filter.

September 26, 2013 - Brownish, poor ullage, light colour as decanted. Nice earthy nose, opens into a lovely wine with good fruit and balance. Past its best but still has lovely mouthfeel, with loads of character. A pleasure.

May 9, 2013 - Rett etter åpning ga denne lite og trengte faktisk en time i åpen flaske for å åpne seg. Ga etter hvert litt klassiske bdx aromaer i en noe avdempet stil + kryddertoner, sødme, plomme. Myk fullmoden vin på den litt slanke siden.

March 2, 2010 - 1962 Bordeaux horizontal (Institute of Directors, London): Swedish bottling: Gently cedary and spicy, good spine, some leafiness - vital, very attractive

January 2, 2008 - Tasting Group Dinner - Bordeaux at Heidi's (Heidi's, Minneapolis): From half bottle. Quite a bit of VA on the initial nose that never quite blew off. Rich, high-toned blueberry fruit on the nose. The palate shows medium-weight, slightly dusty red fruits, minerals, and brown sugar, wrapped in a cocoon of Cheval silk. It was fascinating to taste this alongside the 1921, which was much more concentrated and youthful despite its advanced age. Like the 1921, this had a gorgeously silky texture and a wonderful sense of finesse and elegance.

(Cheval Blanc) The 1962 had a super sweet, long nose that was very plummy, chocolaty, figgy and a touch yeasty. There were nice dusty flavors, and the ‘62 was along the lines of the ’66 stylistically in the mouth, but it had some shreds of fruit left, a pat of nice cassis left in its round and smooth palate. It got a little limey in the glass, but not negatively

(Cheval Blanc) made an appearance, and its nose was intoxicatingly Cheval with its meaty black and red fruits, olive, cinnamon and baked zucchini nut bread. Aromatically fresh, exotic, warm and wintry, its palate was fully mature and much softer and easier. The wine seemed just past the point of being very good, so while its nose was excellent still, its palate was not
