April 9, 2016 - Wonderful nose with sweet fruits and CabFranc-herbs, perfectly balanced, elegant, silky and creamy. A ripe Cheval Blanc at its best, but more on the sunset-side of life. Good bottles like this one will be a treat for at least a decade more.

January 17, 2016 - The nose and palate are both more muted compared to the last bottle with exquisite focused elements. If the last bottle was the milky way, this is one with a cloudier sky. Elements of aged bordeaux such as leather, dried flower, dried fruits are present, but the acidity was not very vibrant, and the structure is kinda muddled, which all results in a shorter finish than the last bottle.

December 20, 2015 - Cheval Blanc Vertical Tasting (Old Swiss House, Lucerne, Switzerland): Nose shows mature red berries, prunes and hints of dark beef stock (demi glace). Still a nice sweetness and quite long and rich. At the same time there is too much acidity and dry tannins. Drink now, fully mature.

December 3, 2015 - Wow what a treat. This was popped by a good friends for his 40th bday. When 1st opened it was a muddled mixture of 40yrs in the bottle. It was open for 6+hrs and gained weight and complexity throughout. When it hit it's stride there was graphite, jalapenos, olives, tons of root vegetables, some tart cherries, dust and dirt, mushrooms and celery seed. Was a terrific pairing with ribeye and NY strip steaks.

September 10, 2015 - Incredibly clean, super refined vs the more upfront 78, nose of prune, wood, mocha, beautiful structure with refined elements, but less flamboyant and lasting than the 78. Very good with 5 more year at least to go. A super refined gentleman's wine
