August 20, 2022 - blind
We get 3 Rieslings blindly. This was the first. I guessed a hotter year as 2005 or 07 and Pfalz or Nahe. A bit too much yellow stone fruits and a hint too sweet. The bottle was greatly stored. A had this bottle "much" fresher in my memory. I was surprised of the vintage.
The second bottle was much fresher and more precise. I guessed Pfalz, someone said Idig. I said never because I'm not a big fan of the heavy Idig but this was beautiful and not reached his top. 95
The third was easy I thought. Keller Morstein 2004 because I had the Kirchspiel one month before and the G-max is more concentrated but this was again Kirchspiel. It is the perfect Riesling bottle. Heaven again. Fresh, light-fooded but with a cristal clear brilliance. It will last at least 10 more years. Not sweet, not perfumed. Brutally graceful. 100

nailed it. Riesling in perfection. Still citrus dominated, bright colour but what makes this wine special is his gorgeous nose. The concentration is phenomenal but in the palate it feels so light. 100

So beautifully fresh and elegant. Nothing is hurting you but you have a never ending concentration and finish. Some lemon, some ropical fruits, no aging signs, no petrol and at the end brutally precise and fresh. at least 10 more years. The best bottle and one of the best Rieslings I had so far. 99

Still primary aromas, cracking acidity, some flowery and tropical notes. I had this wine even more concentrated but a benchmark in "nearly" dry Riesling. "Weaker than 2002 today. 96

I guessed Keller G_Max 2005. I thought it was a warmer vintage because of the ripeness. It was not a perfect bottle. Normally it is gresher and leaner with more acidity. Still great to drink. 94

side by side with 2002 Kirchspiel. This one is more Riesling typical. Elegant, great concentration, everything is balanced and at the right place. It is difficult to find a better one, close to his peak, drank from Zalto Burgundy. 98-99
