March 4, 2011 - A little past its prime, I'm afraid.
August 9, 2009 - Very nice. Smooth, luscious mouthfeel, a touch of heat and acid. soft tannins. Nice balance. Agree that it's probably time to drink up.
June 21, 2009 - Smooth and easy-drinking. No sharp edges or particularly distinctive notes. Muted fruit and tannins, good acidity. Drink up - I think it is all downhill from here.
May 15, 2009 - Still quite good. Very full and rich, lots of fruit. Decanted it, and the second glass was definitely better than the first. Plenty sediment, but I expect that from a Wellington!
November 2, 2008 - QPR. Dark in color, rich fruit nose, middle palate, nice finish, what more do you want for price. Very solid. NIce bright fruit attack, some coco/leather finish with light tannins and sour cherries. Drink now till 2012.
September 15, 2008 - The first whiff directly out of the bottle had just a little bit of heat, and then it quickly settled down.
August 18, 2008 - Continues to grow on me and improve in the bottle. Drinking well now.
August 16, 2008 - This one broke the "90" barrier for me tonight. Incredible both before and during dinner. (Ribeye, red potatoes w/oil, sweet corn)
July 20, 2008 - Very impressive bottle! Rich fruit, with deep cherry & dark plum notes. Some sediment, but caught when the bottle was decanted. Exceptional.
March 14, 2008 - Opened and decanted about 90 minutes ago ... all of sudden, after 1½ hours, it just opened up. It amazes me how that happens. It was decent, solid, a bit acidic, at first ... starting to mellow, and then OPEN SESAME! it was suddenly full of fruity flavors, the acidity became balanced by a sweet plummish, dark fruit flavor that lasts through the finish. The mouth feel is suddenly fully, and somewhat jammy. One drink is quickly followed by the next. Love it!
