First Growth. Premier Cru Classe in 1855.
Critic tasting note: "Spicy, floral, orange rind, apricot, nectarine, honey and nut aromas pair perfectly with the rich, sweet, ripe sensations of honey coated, tropical fruit. Sweet, sexy, fresh and fun to drink now, this offers good value for 2001 Sauternes." - 93/100, Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

- Producer Notes
- Every autumn a microscopic fungus called le « Botrytis Cinerea » appears and transforms the grapes. This is the famous 'noble rot' that is Nature's gift to Chateau Guiraud. In autumn the grapes take on a dark colour which can even seem austere, but this 'noble rot' is a precursor of aromatic expression. Understanding this phenomenon is essential as only the grapes that have been perfectly concentrated by the Botrytis will be picked one by one.

- Producer Tasting Notes
-
The wine is rich and very structured. 2001 already expresses itself by minerality and coolness in mouth. Notes of honey, spices and exotic fruit are very present. Concentrated, the texture is silky and greedy. A very beautiful balance.
