July 30, 2014 - Summer 2014 Distinguished Cellar Auction Tasting (Spectrum Wine Auctions @ San Diego Wine Storage Solana Beach): Clear golden yellow color. Aromas of petrol, minerals, limestone, yellow apples, honey. Silk smooth acids on the palette with hints of lemon, and yellow apples. Full bodied wine with a smooth texture and a long finish. I really enjoyed this one.

July 1, 2014 - Trimbach Clos Ste. Hune & Cuvee Frederic Emile Vertical with James Handford MW (Handford Wines, London): This wine gets the balance of ripeness and acidity just right. Definitely has a ripe edge but the structure of this wine is such that it feels effortlessly balanced, focussed and full of complexity. Still a young wine. Shows the hallmarks of great Riesling of big yet polished acidity, round and full of elegance. 94-95 and full of promise. Lots of life ahead.

July 1, 2014 - Bright golden in colour, very expressive with an odd note on the nose at first. Ripe fruit, honey, floral, lime. Punchy, acidic, saline, open and complex. Great length, very impressive finish.

June 15, 2013 - Deep yellow, fully developed, quite a complex nose. Distinctly un-fruity in an old-school way, and slightly dirty, like a pair of worn-out converse sneakers. Also petrolly and stony, plus old-woodsy with notes such as feathersticks, terpentine and dill. What fruit there is you can sum up as reserved notes of honey, baked yellow apple and candied lemon zest. Tastewise bone dry - a lot drier than the nose suggests - with an acidity that's prominent yet rounded by age. The mouthfeel is somewhat oily, and the dryness conveys a perceived saltiness. Overall personality is quite uptight and austere, and the length short of sensational. In tonight's bottle the great alsatian limestone icon comes across as completely pre-modern and actually... slatey. Very Trimbach in style, and it might have done better without the dirtiness, which is light-years from an updated clean limestone whizard like Keller. Bit of a disappointment, but a great match with smoked salmon and pumpkin seeds.

August 11, 2012 - Apricots, lemon and flint. Solid, crisp and delightful. Not quite up to the 2000

Clos Ste. Hune Vertical at Tse Yang, Dinner in Vegas and a 2002 Blind Aussie Recap, 11/7/2005 92 points

(Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune) had a muskier nose, shier, with more rainwater and lighter citrus and mineral aromas. There was nice breed here, but the wine seemed more feminine and elegant. The palate had lots of citrus and earth, but not the style or acidity of the 2000, which made it seem clumsier
