May 17, 2018 - Casual (Mostly) Burg Dinner with Friends (Inovasi - Lake Bluff IL): Opened and decanted an hour+ before serving, this took a long time to really show its full potential, and is probably still not showing everything. Red and black cherry start-to-finish with very good density and length, but backward for the first hour in glass. Started in glass at perhaps 90 points, but finished closer to 92 or 93.

December 28, 2015 - Dinner with Ata Rangi and Escarpment winemakers: A gorgeous Burgundian nose. Fresh red berry fruit with 'blood and fur', slightly feral complexity. A lot of top 2001s are presently drinking very well aren't they? I picked this wine as a 2001 Vosne. It had good depth of flavour, Grand Cru power and lovely, bright acidity. Raspberries, red cherries and other red fruit and spices dominate the detailed flavour spectrum. It had a lacy lightness in the mouth but with serious grip and fruit weight on the back palate. No hurry needed here. Excellent!

September 9, 2014 - Casual (Mostly) Burg Dinner with Friends (Bistro Campagne - Chicago, IL): By the end of the evening this was my WOTN, Open 30 minutes before serving, served alongside HN 2001 Beaumonts and CV. For me this wine really showcased Malconsorts, with a mineral-driven character with intense spice that got more pronounced with more air, nicely supporting red berry aromas and flavors. I recall trying this wine shortly after release and found it austere and almost harsh. But that is what I'm learning to expect from Malconsorts, which requires 10 years to provide pleasure, and then far more pleasure at 20+ years for better vintages. This kept improving in glass.

September 18, 2013 - drank alongside 2003 Bichot Malsonsorts. About the same level of quality but I prefer the style of this wine. Very seductive nose. Powerful in the palate with long satisfying finish.
