June 1, 2018 - This half bottle 2005 Nicolas Potel Criot Batard Montrachet is drinking very nicely. An opulent nose with pineapple, stone, custard, and oak. Palate has very high acidity which is surprising for a ripe vintage and this terroir. A well balanced wine that shows the richness and fatness of the terroir despite a hot vintage. The Potel oaky character is obvious on the palate but not disturbing. Got lucky with these half bottles as the regular 750ml certainly did not show this well at all when it was consumed last year. 91+

June 19, 2017 - Lots of mango, peach and oak on the nose. Palate is rich and ripe yet theres more acidity than I would expect for a 05. The oak element is very prevalent on the palate which is very common for potel. The richness is pleasing but the wine is one dimensional. The half btl I had was more pleasing.

January 8, 2017 - From a 375ml. The nose has ripe mango, peaches, oak, cake and egg custard. Palate has grand cru weight with a balance between fatness and acidity. This wine will improve in 3-4 years. A rarely successful 05 white that can age. This is much better than 05 Jacques Prieur Montrachet I drank last week. 91-92

February 15, 2015 - Sunday Night Dinner (Eric & Megan's - Chicago): A rich wine without being overly concentrated. Had some lush pear and apple tones with some deeper flinty notes in there too. Palate had nice balance with some background exotic tones of what felt like passion fruit or peach. Very nice.
