May 1, 2024 - Disgorged July 2015. Wonderfully mature, and simply exceptional.
To me, the brilliance of Selosse is his wines ability to enrapture experienced drinkers with their richness, depth, and evolution... while at the same time, grasping novice drinkers with their intrigue and pleasure.
Such special wines, especially with this amount of bottle age. Tonight this was richly nutty, oxidative, coated with deeply buttered pastry and driven by a chalky mineralogy. Stunning.
April 24, 2024 - dég.2022
April 13, 2024 - Certainly not as good as my last bottle. Similar characteristics like dark color, but not nearly as good as I remembered in our last bottle, but that’s wine…
April 8, 2024 - Nose: white flower, honey, steel
Notes: 2.5g dosage, disgorged June 2023. Wonderfully oxidative like all other Jacques Selosse. This is like the mini version of the VO I had a couple of days ago - similar nose/feel/structure but probably less intense and precise. This is not quite ready today and needs a couple more years to gain its complexity and smoothness .
Drink: 2028+
Rating: 90
April 5, 2024 - Method: tasted at the domaine (in the cellar) with Anselme; vintages '17, '16, and '15; disg. Oct. 2023
Nose: nuts, cherry, sherry
Palate: ripe lemon confit, salt, light cream, spice, mineral; long finish with light nut and minerality; full- and very vinous body; medium+ strength pinpoint mousse; medium+ acidity
Overall thoughts: Wow! So rich, interesting, and complex! The mouthfeel is incredible. Excellent wine.
March 31, 2024 - Disg 07, 02 base
Much more balance than the disg 08 here, brioch scents, chalky, rich and powerful, ending in a moderately long and fresh finish.
March 31, 2024 - disg 08, 01 base.
Brioche and lemony scents, followed by a tad too sweet mouthfeel (for my taste), good but notoutstanding depth of flavors, lacking a bit of energy in the end.
March 31, 2024 - disg 10, base 2003
Airy scents of citrus, flowers and herbs introduce a complex champagne, with good depth of flavors and excellent textures, ending chalky and long in a very refined manner.
March 31, 2024 - disg 2016, 10 base
Much more complex than the disg 17, rich and long. To cellar.
March 31, 2024 - Disg 17, base 11
Leesy and airy nose, with citrus and mineral flavors, very fine bubbles, and beautifully balanced. Not as complex as the other cuvee.
