Community Tasting Notes 15

May 19, 2023 - 13x Pinot Greatness: Tasted double blind. One of the best wines of the tasting if not the best wines. This combines complexity, precision; seductiveness and elegance, airiness and aromatic density. One of the 2005s that sings today.

TN: Expressive nose with dark fruit, dark red fruit, smoke, some bretty notes, some other tertiary notes. On the palate superb red berries, sweet strawberries, ripe but very pure, additional notes of minerality, soil, some vegetal/stemmy aromas. This is round and harmonious, wonderful, airy texture, fine tannins. So sweet and seductive, so elegant and airy. Wow.

Decanting: Not decanted, no extensive decanting needed.

April 30, 2023 - During a Pinot blind tasting dinner. Complex nose of dark fruit, mushroom, earthy elements. Dark and dense on the palate, lots of farmyard and bready elements. One of my top three wines and also the #2 WOTN for the group.

January 15, 2023 - Showing really well at the moment. Likely no rush, but this is in a nice spot.

June 10, 2021 - Tasted blind. Wonderful Burgundian nose reminding us of the best wines of Hudelot-Noellat and Leroy. The tell tale mix of sour cherry, cured meat, earthy elements and spices. Excellent palate, elegant with the fruit and the structure of 2005. Good now and with a long road ahead. Later tasted again non blind, with consistent result.

January 12, 2021 - I agree with most notes that this is quite open and very delicious. Deep, gorgeous floral and sappy berry aromas. For me, on the elegant side for Gevrey. My guess is that the TM vines are well-located in this large cru, or perhaps the then-46 yr-old vine material is what gives this such grace. Will be trying the Charmes soon to contrast it.
