November 2, 2014 - Double decanted for three hours and tasted blind initially. Moderate nose, black fruit, a touch of earth, medium body, medium acidity, saturated dark fruit on the attack, finishes a bit weak though. This fell a bit short for me.

July 5, 2014 - Full body wine with lots of ruby red color and big bold flavor

June 15, 2014 - Currants, berries and cherries. Finishes with a little herbal hint.

June 7, 2014 - One and one half Shafers? I think we get the best of both of them, name said. Currently out drinking the Hillside, altho I don't expect ( and hope since we have the hillside ) that to be the end result, this is a very well made, and distinctive, napa cab with a ways to go.

April 17, 2014 - WCC 2004 California Cab Blind Tasting (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): Very ripe fruit nose with notes of beef and licorice. Sweet, juicy, young, but balanced and harmonious. Definitely one of the best wines to drink tonight.

Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five, Episode #698, 6/30/2009 (link) 93 points

(Shafer One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon) COLOR-a gorgeous purple inky color, pitch dark; NOSE-big red fruit (kirsch & cassis); enormous intensity; a little mint play; just gorgeous; really ripe cherry; fruit bomby, yet conservative; PALATE-very silky; enormous silk on the back-end; seductive; silky smooth; polished finish; almost like drinking delicious pure purple paint; refined elegance; has that really bright, intense California fruit; a Napa cab really doing it's thing; this is a gorgeous conducted Napa Cab; really polished elegance; big fruit; explosive; I really want to grill a big fat steak and eat it with this wine; this wine is bringing massive New World thunder; you can taste the gorgeous Oak integration; this is California Cabernet at it's best; drinking tremendously now, but will easily age 7-15 years; I like the subtle black leaf tea on the back-end; just a beautiful and elegant bottle of Cabernet; I like this '04 much better than the '05 that I just rated 88 points; WS-93; GV-93
