April 13, 2013 - interesting how califa and chamisal have diverged over the last 9 years; still nice acid and a good finish
May 19, 2011 - WS Grand Tour Boston (Copley Marriott): Still very nice. Tart berry, cranchery and slight orange peel. Very good. Drink soon.
January 5, 2011 - love it! very nice balance of fruit (cherry and raspberry), tannins (very mellow and soft) and acidity (bright, but not overly so). This has aged really nicely, and now anxious to try one of the Califa's in the cellar as well. Not sure this gets any better with more age, and actually approaching the closing end of the drinking window. Well done.
November 25, 2010 - Nose: Sour Cherry, Plum, Rhubarb and Herbs. Palate: Slightly spritzy, Raspberry, Cherry, slight Cola flavor underlying the fruit. Strong acids took a while to balance out, but nice spicy pinot emerged. Finish: Moderate with a berries and rhubarb dominating. Mushrooms and earthy forrest floor flavors emerge on the finish. I agree that this wine was nicer in its youth. Drink up.
August 29, 2010 - Bright fruit, mellow tannins. Very nice pairing with grilled ahi
June 1, 2010 - Spicy, with a lot of fruit still in the bottle.
January 23, 2010 - Drank for Ali's birthday
January 3, 2010 - Red berries on the nose, notably raspberry and black cherry, also menthol, eucalyptus. Well balanced, and rounded, with bright red berry flavors beset by acidity. This comes together in a mouth-watering, harmonious attack, and this has lost the finishing asperity it had a couple of years ago, has shed all of the baby fat, and is a leaner and more focused than I remember it.
December 11, 2009 - Very nice cherry fruit french oak vanilla and sage and slight barnyard on the nose... Very typical flavor profile of the Santa Barbara county ... very well made and enjoyable wine
November 30, 2009 - Drank with steph on a Monday night at home
