November 15, 2023 - Almost brown, though mostly golden. Aged, honeyed white with some sweetness, a little less than an old spätlese. Good body, a bit short in aftertaste. Fine stuff.

June 5, 2023 - Celebrating 140 Years with 7 chefs (Pokai Parera, Ekatahuna, New Zealand): Outstanding, aged PG, that offers beautiful late-stage development. A touch of residual sugar (30g/l) adds weight to the oily fruit, and the pear and apricot fruit marries well with the typical PG varietal expression. I imagine this might have been a little fresher a few years back, but the wine has enormous concentration and complexity. The fisho is outstanding, although one can detect a slight tailing off in vibrancy.

June 17, 2022 - Alsace BYO (@ Erik): Sweet peach fruit but still very dry and with a med-high acidity. Great wine!

January 4, 2022 - On the nose, this was sweet, rich, honeyed and with a clear influence of botrytis. A little anise/liquorice as well.

On the palate, this was much drier. Not completely dry, but off-dry rather than sweet. Yellow rich fruit.

Nice and interesting, but not quite at the level of the 2010 and with a small disconnect between the nose and palate.

November 18, 2021 - No theme night: Deep gold in colour, showed some tertiary development with nutty aromas. Smelled sweeter than it tasted. Surprisingly tight on opening but with air it showed a certain class, very tropical and rich fruit but slightly lacking in acidity. Even better on the second day, a better balance to the wine with a sensual finish.

October 19, 2021 - Quince, yellow fruit, apple, nussini. This is so thick and rich, super delicious but can also be over the top for some people. For me after 2 glasses I was happy to move on

July 4, 2021 - Very similar to the last bottle tasted in 2019. Extraordinary in every way. Ripe, intense, deep, balanced, explosive, lingering….wow. Apricots, peach fuzz, hazelnuts. There are few wines I have experienced that can pack this much intensity in an accessible and integrated package. Perfect aperitif or as an accompaniment to cheese. Some sweetness lingers but feels dry because of the extract. Magic juice. (98)

August 14, 2020 - This wine needed nearly 20 years to fully open up. Mirabels, yellof stone fruit, saffron, rich, onctuous and with a very long finish.

This will stay on this maturity plateau for 10+ years.

    Beautiful!

October 23, 2019 - Smokey and the bandit has arrived; rich, very present. mature (but in no way declining), sweet notes, yet quite discrete as such. A food wine, but not for a fragile meal, it is a powerful, concentrated wine - drinking window wide open. Burgundy snails, why not?
