    June 25, 2014 - Tawny color. Classic aromas of brown sugar, coffee, nut skins and tea. Rich, high acid fruit in the mouth with outstanding depth and length. Very intense and silky on the palate. As the bottle was newly opened, the wine will need at least several months to reach its full potential.

    February 6, 2013 - Stunning from the first pour to the last glass. Drank over a 90 day period after opening. Even improved after about 2 weeks of being opened, if that is possible.

    December 30, 2012 - extraordinary layers of flavors with 10-15 min lingering finish.
    honey, apricot, almond, quince with some carmel

    November 3, 2012 - Deep amber color. Incredible nose of molasses, varnish, citrus, almond, coffee and all kinds of spices. A full-bodied, intense Madeira with flavors of roasted chestnuts, spices, citrus, varnish and on and on. Finishes deeply complex and concentrated and a bit harsh with burnt notes. I think this just needs more time to settle down. 94+

    January 29, 2012 - 1903 D'Oliveiras Boal;
    Deep amber, red tints, golden rim. Intense and complex nose, nothing jumps out as Paul Pontallier says, magnificent and layered nose. Fresh and high acidity, playful, very lively fruit, superb texture, somewhat leaner than the 1908 Boal, but maybe a touch more refined. Very nuanced and long. 95
