October 21, 2021 - Wine Spectator 40th Anniversary; 10/21/2021-10/23/2021 (Marriott Marquis): Good to see that there was a lot of this vintage since it got poured both nights. It's a wine for aging for sure but all the right stuffing there for that.

June 11, 2021 - Well, it was a curious experiment to drink it with the ‘96; obviously too young, still great, lively, nicely balanced … yet, it is not and it will never be in the same league as the wines like the ‘96; just not enough room for growth.

April 28, 2020 - I feel that I am being generous with my score. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great wine but expectations were quite high. About a one hour decant and it needed about a day. Gift from restaurant owner as thank you. It has intense Australia flavors like many Syrah blends. Would really have liked to take bottle home but felt obligated to enjoy at table. It was second bottle of night and first was big cab of Howell mountain. May have also influenced my take.

January 24, 2020 - Suckling Great Wines of the World. Perhaps it was the fact so many great wines were being tasted but I was underwhelmed by this wine and while young and tight, if tasted blind would not have guessed it was a Grange.

    November 24, 2019 - 98% Shiraz and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14.5% alcohol.

Really stormy and fabulous aromas with lovely dark plums, cold coffee, exotic spices and sweet wood. Even with the power, the clear details come through. Pretty full-bodied wine with real fruit explosion. Delicious fruit with plums, forest berries, flint, exotic spices, charcoal and well sweet burnt wood. Pure acidity and solid, but typical tannins. A very well made Grange that many collectors will have a craving for. Wine for the next 20-40 years. 97 points.

November 23, 2019 - Vertical from Six Decades Of Grange at Matter of Taste w/ Peter Gago.
Having tasting the previous five decades, the current release was a lot of fun to try to extrapolate into the future. I thought the fruit was more full on the '13, so I gave it the edge. But this rating is based on waiting at least 20 years to drink, as at the moment the tannins are pretty potent.

October 3, 2019 - Australian Wine Far from Ordinary Trade Tasting, San Francisco, Tasted 3 times today. Lovely nose of saddle leather, black fruit, licorice and dust, same on the palate, big body, intensely concentrated fruit, large amount of soft tannins, beautiful to sip and think about its future, if you open, decant for 2 days, long finish.
