November 29, 2023 - No detailed note. This bottle was absolutely delicious in its elderly stage.

October 5, 2008 - Took an hour or two to truly open up to its potential. Quite tight directly out of the bottle.
Deep purple. Moderate viscocity. Deep aromas of dark red berries. Dark cherries, currants.
Dark red flowers and tons of mocha and vanilla notes dominate the senses.
The palate shows more dark red fruit with nice baking spice.
The finish is moderately complex with balanced tannins and moderate to high acidity.
This Merlot will age effortlessly for another five to ten years.

May 8, 2007 - Syrah like. Deep ruby/purple color. Began slightly tight, with some tannins throughout. Mellowed and softened as it breathed. Once open, this drunk very well. Soft, fruit-forward, yet bold enough to keep your interest. Very good juice. Not a ton of wine-crafting here. Raw yet subtle. A nice value bottle.

April 20, 2007 - Not a bad wine, but disappointing relative to prior vintages. 2002 was the best, IMO, with the explosion of berry fruit and vanilla, overlaid with oak. 2003 wasn't as great, but it still had the characteristics. The 2004 is much different; lighter in color, lacking complexity, depth, and overall flavor. Still young right now. Opens up a bit with an hour of airtime. Next day, I expected it to show improvement as I usually find with young Januik reds, but it wasn't there. So, not bad, but not great as in previous years.
