March 13, 2024 - At St Botolph's dinner. A mini horizontal with a 1991 Mondavi Reserve and mini vertical with a 2002 Dominos, as well as 1989 and 2000 Leoville Barton. Not blind, but the two Dominus had the same plush feel in the mouth that made them quite different from the other wines. The 2002 unsurprisingly had fresher fruit and was my preference of the California wines, but I was pleased with how my 1991 showed.

January 10, 2024 - Dinner at Foliage (San Francisco): Very distinctive nose with lots of green bell pepper, fragrant black cherries, leather, a good amount of menthol, and some cassis. Lovely palate with good acidity and complexity, more dark cherry and fruit flavors, and some underwood. Long and lingering finish that is quite primary still. This is a powerful yet elegant and very well balanced wine. It's not easy drinking and I found this the most challenging out of all the wines tasted that night, but it's also the most interesting to me.

January 10, 2024 - Dinner with Herwig (Foliage, SF): Amazing nose with fantastic black currant, some savory green, a touch of pepper; palate is full bodied, medium-plus vibrant acidity, balanced alcohol, black fruited, slight chocolate; finish is medium-long. Very lovely, a treat. 94

January 1, 2024 - Wow and wow! Truly extarordinary. We all know the mantra, but it is remarkable to make a stellar wine like this no matter where the location. Still going strong with plenty of everything left in the tank.

December 21, 2023 - Holiday Champagne Gala (Wilmette Harbor Club): Tasted alongside 1992 at gala dinner. Fully mature, less exciting than it was in its youth, coming across as enjoyable but less complex than 1992. Still easy to enjoy with very good length.

(Dominus Estate Napanook Vineyard) From magnum - bricking, very dark red violet color; mature, savory, corn beef, beef jus nose; tasty, mature, beef jus, corn beef, olive tapenade palate; medium-plus finish (more advanced than the last bottle I tried)
