August 21, 2018 - very alcoholic, smoky, oaky, and earthy. Still disjointed and needs time to integrate.
March 10, 2018 - Bought in Franschoek. Garnet without any fading. Aromas of cassis and tobacco. Tannins starting to soften. Ripe with good balance . New world but with a nod to the old--what we found in South Africa. There is more ahead for this wine.
April 1, 2017 - Who says SA Cab cannot age? This is still drinking wonderfully well at 12 years of age. The fruits are autumnal rather than super ripe and all the better for it. Remains a well balanced wine with a decent length on the finish. Perfect wine for leg of Welsh lamb
July 1, 2015 - Eye. dark ruby with brown ascents/reflects
nose. pretty grond like, rippen red fruits
palate. very round bordeaux like. some red and green pepper
October 5, 2013 - Drinking so well right now! Classic South African terroir comes through in the aromatics and finish. Currants, spiced cherry, beef jerky, savory herb, campfire embers, this walks a tight line of balance and power! #wine
November 23, 2012 - Boekenhoutskloof Winemakers dinner. (@ Bottles; Sas van Gent, Netherlands): In the bouquet and on the palate beautifully ripe red, but mostly dark berry fruits. Good oak and sweet spices. Beautiful and harmonious wine.
March 26, 2012 - Very good new world cab. Full bodied and with a nose of blackcurrant. Starting to mature but will last for another 3-4 years.
December 24, 2011 - This bottle seemed a little more unsettled than last year. A bit too aggressive for me. Tannins quite drying.
August 20, 2011 - Drink soon
March 21, 2011 - Color: Deep core of dark red, red edges
Nose: Whiffs of cherry, subtle oak, some cedary spice and tarry notes.
Palate: The tarry red fruits are framed by good tannins that extend the lush finish.
