April 13, 2024 - Decanted for two and half hours prior to tasting.
Medium ruby color; dark raspberry nose.
Lots of intense dark fruit; blackberry, plum, black cherry. Well-structured; with firm tannins that are built for the long haul. Rich tertiary flavors of tobacco, leather, and Tuscan dust. Almost Bordeaux-like in intensity, it is all balanced out by lively acidity.

This one is still a bit young. Revisit in a few years

December 28, 2023 - Much better than the first bottle. Delicious with a lot of life still left.

December 6, 2023 - This rancia Very backwards the first two days were drinking. Lots of structure, somewhat linear in the pallet and the nose the first little bit here, mostly just soar cherry. On day three things started to open up a good amount. Cherry, some red fruit, earthy, and herbaceous notes. This was still drinking pretty good day . This thing has a long ways to go, but I honestly wouldn’t drink it now. It was a good To open one for science though.

October 22, 2023 - Decanted. Medium, dark-garnet with clarity. Aromas of steeped red cherry & red apple skin, tea leaves, fresh hibiscus and nutmeg. Sour cherry and pomegranate flavors, dried herb, sandalwood and earth depth. Refined balance up front but slightly fading through the palate. Medium-plus acid, billowy round tannins, dry juicy finish, short to medium length. It tastes good, but is underwhelming structurally. Struggled to stand up to a Bolognese pairing. Drink now or hold, doesn’t need decanting.

October 20, 2023 - More tannins. Smokey medium bodied

Was great but didn’t hold up to the super Tuscan greppicaia. Which was fuller bodied.

Would def have again on its own

October 4, 2023 - @ Babbo NYC. Looks, smells and drinks like a Brunello. Lots of wood, vanilla, herbal on the nose. Tannic yet fairly integrated, with air this become more velvety with medium weight. Blueberry notes dominate. Solid.

August 21, 2023 - PnP. Medium red. Spicy sangiovese nose; very herbal but not as dark as is typical for Rancia. Rather light on the front of the palate then intense and still with significant tannins on the finish. Went nicely with fettucine with heirloom tomatoes and chanterelles. Expect will be rounder tomorrow.

July 12, 2023 - PnP and tasted over 3 nights. Immediate dark color and classic sangiovese nose but quite restrained. Not as intense as Rancia often is but almost elegant. This put on weight and complexity on day 2 and I expect this will age well because of its balance. Not as dark in composition as often but still very good.

June 23, 2023 - Drinking really well now. Lovely cherry characters on the nose. A beautifully balanced wine with integrated tannins and fruit. The palate has a slight spiciness and long finish. Lovely fruit characters of cherries on the palate. Luv the wine.

June 22, 2023 - An afternoon of Italian wines from Casa Bruno (Ora et Labora, Portland OR): The nose is wound up a bit but still shows off very good tones of dark red cherries, raspberries, liqueur notes, bitter chocolate, licorice, violets, and some savory herbs. The Full bodied feel is deft and balanced with medium acidity and slightly stiff, medium+ tannins. The structure is youthful, but it also comes off in a way that maybe never really resolves. This is a good Rancia, but not really a great one though I would like the chance to try this down the road and see what happens.
