October 19, 2014 - Smooth spicy cassis fruit. Cankles. No noticeable tannins.

    August 13, 2014 - Drinking amazing now

February 17, 2014 - An inviting nose of blackberry mixed with cherry licorice and cedar lead way to too much of the same on the palate. While it is certainly a good drink, it's just lacking another dimension in order to justify a higher rating (from me) and it's pricepoint.

February 1, 2014 - Not quite as good as the bottle from just 3 months ago. As before, no sign of age, clear, with a fair amount of sediment. The nose is the star here, while the palate plays second fiddle from first glass to last glass. Creamy black currants, black cherry, a suggestion of leather, vanilla, and dark spices. The full-bodied palate suffers in two ways: the mid-palate has a whole that it can't seem to fill, and the finish is too short; tannins built for mid-term cellaring. Still, the nose and palate, while good, fell short my previous bottle, keeping this in the good as opposed to very good category. EtOH was fully resolved, and this particular bottle offered drinking through 2017. Cellared since release; cork like new. 14,9% abv

November 30, 2013 - I had been worried the tannins might not be resolved enough to fully enjoy this, but with 2 hours in decanter (fair amount of chunky sediment, too), this was completely ready. Explosive nose of bright, red and black fruits, a powerful spice component, and damp earthen notes. The flavors largely follow the nose, but for me, the most enjoyable thing here is that this is not a one-trick pony (e.g. cherry or vanilla, you choose). A good toward very good amount of complexity, purity. In retrospect, this could have been a PnP, and showed as well or better. Tertiary development is still some years away. The abv is fully resolved. 14,9% abv, drink thru 2018

(Paul Hobbs Napa Cabernet Sauvignon) #6; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-over-oaked; enormous vanilla; cedar box; a little tobacco which is nice, but a solid foundation of wood; TASTE-clearly an over-oaked Cabernet from California; not my style; cranberry; some New England wood; this kind of wine just bores me; RP-92; GV-87
